The Sequined Dress
Yes, it might sound intimidating to commit to full-on head-to-toe sparkle, but if you get the right piece, this is actually the easiest look because you don’t need to worry about matching separates. Look for a swing or shift dress that flows with your figure instead of clinging and you’ll have great photos of your evening.
The Light Up the Night Lavender Sequin Shift Dress I’m wearing in the pictures is a perfect option. It’s just $54, it comes in five colors, and skims the figure just right.
Here are some other sequined dresses for under $100.
Sparkly Boots
Even if you don’t want to wear sequin boots with a sequin dress like me, sequin boots can be a perfect way to jazz up an all black ensemble. The Kate Spade Olina Glitter Knee High Boots I’m wearing in the photo were a splurge, but I know I’ll keep them for years to come.
Here are some other glitter boot options that will jazz up any classic outfit.
Sparkly Makeup for New Year’s Eve
A little bit of bling on your face will make your makeup look extra special. Here are some options that aren’t too difficult to apply.
Stila Shimmer and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow
This cream shadow has become my new obsession because it’s nice and shimmery, hard to mess up, and it stays on all night. A light shade with sparkle such as Gold Goddess or Kitten Karma can be dabbed on your lid and blended with a brush or finger for a light, sparkly look. Once it dries, you can apply other shadows (cream or powder) on top to create a more dramatic look if desired.
Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner
This is another fool-proof product. Because it’s glitter in a clear formula you can apply it over black eyeliner without worrying about messing up the rest of your look. Simply create your black smoky eye as you normally would, then apply a coat of this glitter liner on top. Don’t worry if you are a bit sloppy; it doesn’t matter. Just make sure to let it dry and you’re good to go.
Make Up For Ever Glitters
If you prefer a sparkly pout, choose a Make Up For Ever Glitter in a pink or iridescent shade, apply your regular lipstick, add a clear gloss on top, then finish with a little bit of this right in the center of your lips.
Finish With Sparkly Hair
A thin sparkly headband can top off your look with just the right hint of glamour. You can easily find something perfect for under $20.
Or, if you want more of an all-over look, get a high quality glitter spray that will add shimmer without making your locks too sticky.
IGK Preparty Hair Strobing Spray
Spray this fine glitter spray all over, then set it with hairspray for all-over shimmer.
