Yes, usually the pictures you see me share feature sky-high heels, but I have a secret for you. Some days I get up, get dressed, and I stare blankly at my shoe collection. I’m feeling tired or lazy or whatever, and buckling a pair of wedges seems like a lot of work, let alone wearing them all day! Enter the mule. They’re flat, they’re comfortable, and you just stick your feet in and you’re good to go. Plus, if you pick the right pair, you can really add some pizazz to your ensemble.

I recently purchased the pictured J. Crew pair and find myself throwing them on all the time. I also splurged on the Kate Spade Belgove Bow Mules shown below. They seem to pair perfectly with any black dress, skirt or skinny pants alongside dark denim.

When shopping for mules, I suggest skipping anything super plain and seeking out at least a little embellishment, even if you are someone who prefers simpler styles. Since the shoes themselves are small and feature less fabric, they’re prime real estate for adding a hint of style to your look. Below are some Marco Style mule picks in a variety of colors, styles and price ranges. They also pick up on some of Fall’s key trends, including embellished shoes, velvet, embroidery, and metallics.
