As soon as I saw this on the menu at Tazza Kitchen, I was curious. Queso fresco in cake form? Would it be like cheesecake? Would it be savory? In the end, it was quite well-balanced and tasty.
A perfect choice for those who don’t like super saccharine desserts, here a fried, crumbly cake made with Spanish cheese is sweet but balanced with salty and savory notes. Crunchy, fried edges are complemented with smooth semi freddo and ripe, fresh berries. To top it off, the dessert is finished with crunchy, butter-roasted pecans and a sweet black-pepper-honey sauce. Overall it’s a unique and delicious dessert you should definitely try.
