RVA Love: Valentine’s Day Shopping Events

The mall isn’t the only place where you can score a gift for your sweetheart before Valentine’s Day. There are several shopping events going on that are perfect for finding gifts for your beloved, best friend, or of course, yourself. Whether I’m in a relationship or single, I’m a firm believer in getting something special for number one—me, myself, I—on Valentine’s Day. Because to properly love someone else you have to love yourself first. Am I right or am I right?

All these goodies are made by South Side residents who will be participating in the Over the River Maker’s Mart Valentine’s Vend (details below). Clockwise from top left: The Daily Scrub handmade vegan artisan soap, Paper Rose handmade paper flowers, MudLOVE handcrafted necklaces, Garnett Jewelry handpainted brass bracelets, Perk Bon Air hand pies, PaperFreckles card.

For two days Ledbury will be hosting a special trunk show featuring New York City-based leather accessories line Neely & Chloe. Luxe leather handbags and accessories are made even more personal with free embossing during the show. The event kicks off Friday with a cocktail party from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring bubbly from Barrel Thief and treats from Charm School then shopping on Saturday from 12 to 5 p.m.

Feb 4-5, VCUarts Craft + Material Studies Ceramic Sale, Quirk Gallery

Undergrad and graduate students plus faculty will be selling handmade pieces to raise funds for student attendance at the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) in Portland, Oregon. This is a great opportunity to support emerging artists and find something new for yourself. Shop Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m.
